About Me
My name’s Susan Watkins, and I live in Hertfordshire, England. I originally graduated in applied biology, and I have subsequently made a living researching and writing about agriculture for business publications. My first child was born in 1999, and my second in 2001. I chose to stay at home with my children, while continuing my writing career, and starting a new business in genealogy. I’ve been interested in family history since I was a child. My father whetted my appetite, as he told me stories about his grandfather, who was the captain of an ocean liner. I loved to hear tales that had been passed down, particularly the stories about weevils in ship’s biscuits. Must be my biology background coming out! When I got older, I began to trace my family history. With the advent of the internet, researching family history has been revolutionised. However, although the internet has helped enormously, not everything can be done online. It’s important to view original records at record offices, for example. And not to believe everything you read without checking it against the original sources. Therefore, I’ve set up a business offering a service to help people trace their family history.
